All of Monk is here! ALBUM I WANT TO GET NEXT: A vinyl copy of 'Underground', I was sure I had one but I somehow overlooked it.

Underground is an album by Thelonious Monk. It features Monk on piano, Larry Gales on bass, Charlie Rouse on tenor sax, and Ben Riley on drums. This is the last Monk album featuring the Thelonious Monk Quartet. Its cover image depicts Monk as a French Resistance fighter in the Second World War.

This is my first Thelonious Monk record and I enjoy his style immensely. He has a dissonant style that somehow works even though it almost seems like it shouldn't. My year old son and I have been listening to a lot of Brubeck lately, as well as Miles Davis and /5(27).
